I am so pleased with this smallish project hubby and I tackled this last week. It was a lot harder and took a lot longer than just hanging a light in the corner of the room, but we expected that with this fixer upper farm house we purchased. But in the end this little project makes me super happy. This year I have set out to finish some of the already started projects so the house feels more finished and cozy.
Our living room and library combo used to be a bedroom and storage room combo. I know wow. We removed walls and closets, added a pass through from the living room to the library and trimmed out all the doors and windows and added new gorgeous wall board and batten molding. With all we have done we still need to add wood floors and do some touch up work on the ceilings, but I am in love.
When we removed the main wall and added the pass through we needed to do something with the electrical box and all the wiring in the house. This farm house is part modular (4 parts built in a factory and all different wiring then put together on site) and part stick built which makes things super hard with rewiring anything. Luckily my FIL is a Master electrician so Yippy for us. Anyway, the first time I walked into the library/old bedroom I had a vision of a cozy corner chair with a lamp hanging over. We had the lamp already from our previous home as well as the chair so now we had the perfect spot for our cozy library reading corner. The problem was the wiring. FIL moved the junction box to exactly where I envisioned it, right over the chair. So over the last week we (I) had lots of drywall work to do in both the living room and the library. I spent the week floating and sanding then painting the ceiling. I love how it turned out. The star is the perfect touch to hubby classic civil war style library.
So one project done. Now onto the next one for next month.
